Paul McCaughey

Paul McCaughey, D.TCM, Director of The Rising Sun School of T'ai Chi Ch'uan, est. 1984, is a traditional Master Teacher of T'ai Chi Ch'uan with over 30 years of practice, training students from beginner through apprentice instructor levels of T'ai Chi. He graduated as Master Herbalist from Humber College in 1984, and holds Diplomas in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine, (Traditional Chinese Doctor) from The Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He founded Somatic Healing Arts in 1993, where he practices Acupuncture, Acupressure Massage, Herbal Medicine, Dietary Therapy and Lifestyle Coaching. Paul has been on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Association for Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and has been engaged in shaping the present provincial legislation on Chinese Medicine, soon to yield the first College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Paul takes over as O.A.A.T.C.M. Board Chair in spring of 2008. Paul is also an Instructor of the Russian Martial Art and Breathing System, teaching at Systema Downtown, Toronto, since 2005. Paul has lectured and consulted internationally in Europe, USA, and Canada, for Universities (Concordia, York, U. of To.), corporations, TDSB faculty, and the martial arts community. He draws on his extensive knowledge of Indigenous Native American Medicine, Tibetan Buddhism, and Christianity, and whether he is teaching, counselling, or practicing as a healer, Paul works from the integration of the whole person as a body, mind, heart and spirit in relationship to all life and being.
