Leslie S. Greenberg

Leslie S. Greenberg, PhD, is professor of psychology at York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is the director of the York University Psychotherapy Research Clinic, a founding member of the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration and a past president of the Society for Psychotherapy Research, by which he was awarded their 2004 Distinguished Research Career Award. He was also recently awarded the Canadian Psychological Association Professional Award for distinguished contribution to psychology. Dr. Greenberg has authored and co-authored 102 peer reviewed papers, 89 book chapters and 17 books. He has co-authored the major texts on emotion-focused approaches to treatment of individuals and couples such as Facilitating Emotional Change (1996, with L. Rice, R. Elliot), Emotion-Focused Therapy (2001), Emotion-Focused Therapy for Depression (2005, with J. C. Watson) and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (1998, with S. Johnson). His most recent publication is “Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy: The Dynamics of Emotion, Love and Power” (2008, with R. Goldman, APA monograph). He co-edited Empathy Reconsidered (1997, with A. C. Bohart) and the Handbook of Experiential Psychotherapy (1998, with J. C. Watson, G. O. Lietaer). He is on the editorial board of a number of psychotherapy journals, including the Journal of Psychotherapy Integration and the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy. He is an international workshop leader, utilizing lecture, videotape demonstration, live role play, supervised practice and focused question and answer.
